The 2022 Colour Edit

The 2022 Colour Edit

Thinking of giving walls, woodwork or even ceilings a coat of fresh colour? We have done the leg work for you and compiled the trending colours to embrace for the coming year.

Mr Blue Sky

‘Bright Skies’ has been chosen as the Dulux Colour of the Year 2022. This shade of uplifting light blue offers a much-needed invigorating breath of fresh air into our homes. Reminiscent of a clear sky, filled with promise, the gentle blue colour reminds us to ‘look up’ and feel optimistic as we emerge from the darkness of the last year. We think this would be fabulous used in a Home office or a smaller sized living room.

Honest & humble

Social and environmental consciousness has become an important factor in our lives, and it influences the choices we make. Products that are locally sourced, carefully crafted and made of natural materials are becoming more sought after. Think muted earthy tones like ‘Powdered Clay’ & ‘Cushion Graze’ both from Crown Paints. These terracotta based hues give a rich, warm backdrop to any interior.

Not so mellow Yellow

Until now one of Farrow & Ball’s lesser-known colours, ‘Babouche’ is named after the soft slippers traditionally worn in Morocco. This vibrant, uplifting yellow would suit a sunny kitchen or hallway, and looks equally at home in a contemporary or period decor scheme. We love the playful, cheerful quality of this colour and while it may be a daunting shade to use- we recommend painting an accent piece of furniture, or even a front door- to give instant kerbside cheer.

Green is the new grey

It’s a colour that’s everywhere in interiors right now. It’s synonymous with nature and calming qualities, which could explain its popularity for creating a contented home. Green is the new grey. It is a shade that appeared on the interior radar a couple of years ago but from pale sage to deep forest green- there is a shade for every person & style. A few of our favourites are ‘Pigeon’ & ‘Green Smoke’ by Farrow & Ball, ‘Standing Tall’ by Colourtrend and ‘Ambleside’ by Little Greene.
